Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Joy Nyargem @afrostylicity

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

My name is Joy and I’m of African descent, living in the US, and traveling the world as often as I can. I am a corporate professional as well as a style blogger and brand ambassador. I like to call it my serious (read adult) side, and my fun exciting side.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I LOVE all things fashion; however, as I mentioned, I love to travel, so I incorporate primarily style and travel pics into my instagram feed. I love DIY projects as well, and I will begin to post more about that in upcoming months.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I am an African, and I love style. I like to think that social media is a virtual forum for me to showcase my own unique sense of style. It’s my style city so to speak. Bingo! The name Afrostylicity was born.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

For photos taken with my phone, I primarily use the inbuilt photo editing software. However, on occasion I use picsart. For photos taken with my DSLR camera, I use photoshop for post-processing.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

TheDailegh and StylePantry and a few others are some instagrammers that I like. If I was to choose my absolute favorite, it would have to be StylePantry.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

They should continue to push themselves. Essentially, they should work towards growing their brands further.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love that I can play a part in helping people make decisions about what products/services to purchase based on my reviews. Also, I love that I am able to shine the spotlight on great brands via my collaborations with various companies

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Honesty is the best policy. Always be honest to consumers about the products/services you’re selling.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I think it’s important to look within, and identify what makes you unique. Do not look around and try to copy what everyone else is doing. You wouldn’t be true to yourself if you did that, and you would be denying the world the opportunity to share your innate talent.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

As I mentioned previously, I love working with brands because I love helping to shine the spotlight on amazing products/services.
