Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Gia Narvaez @TheSassyTruth_

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hi! My name is Gia 🙂

I am a content creator for YouTube and Instagram. I grew up in San Francisco and then moved to Sacramento and San Diego to get my bachelors and masters degree. After grad school, about 4 months ago, I moved out to LA because I just felt like thats what was calling my name. And I am so happy to be out here! I currently work as a podcast producer for a natural health company, and on the side I do plus size fashion blogging, transgender activism, & body positive activism!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I do a lot of body positivity posts, posts about me being transgender and the struggles that I face on my day to day life. I try to be as honest as possible with my audience, sometimes even a little more honest than I should be but I think ultimately I am trying to bring visibility to the transgender and plus size community so I have to keep it as real as I can!

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I have always been told that I am super sassy, so when I was thinking of a handle and of my blog name, I chose The Sassy Truth because it was just what felt right, I am always sassy and I always tell the truth!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I do not really edit my photos! I think because I am trying to keep it as real as possible I dont do much editing. I will change lighting, shadows etc to make pictures brighter but I usually just use the instagram tools or picmonkey!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

OMG some of my favorite instagrammers are @xBrittney89, @chooselifewarrior, @chubbybabe_ , @yourstrullymelly, @bodyposipanda ! they all put out so much positivity into the world, its so contagious and it makes me want to spread kindness and positivity!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

the french toast and Norms Diner in Los Angeles. it is HEAVENLY!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

That I can show people the real me all the time, and that I am educating and changing perspectives for the better!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Be okay with having criticism that may not always be positive. I have worked with some brands before that just did not have good quality materials. And I think in order to maintain authenticity you have to be super honest about stuff!

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I am an avid supporter of being yourself which means quality and original content is whats gonna make you, speak from your heart and you’ll be on the right road!

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Trying out fun and new stuff that I may not have heard of before!
