1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
People usually get confused over my name. It’s F to the inja, no not Ninja. Finja. I spend most of my hours sitting behind a screen to help and shape the Internet evolve. How? I work for an web analytics agency in London and help brands understand the flow of their online visitors. Why? So that we can see better and more engaging websites which let us experience the next level of online life.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
I love philosophy. It’s not only love, it’s passion really. Not even passion describes it, it’s more a sort of deep urge to explore and contentiously broaden the horizon and you will find this underlying drive in all of my pictures. I post snapshots of my life which take my breath away or push me to understand more. Often, when I look at an image, I only see the “something more” then and it inspires a certain keyword in my head. Then I browse through quotes of authors and connect their piece of art to mine.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
Ha, I get asked that a lot! So my real name is Finja Kemski. If you take the initials, it would shorten to FK and if you pronounce this in German, it would be Eff Caa. effcaa.
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
Back in the days I used VSCO cam on the mobile, but nowadays I shoot with a DSLR, then import and edit in Lightroom, sometimes in Photoshop but I need to learn all the stuff there, photography is a journey obviously. I also found some VSCO presets for Lightroom and found them quite useful. I like playing with dodging and burning to bring out certain aspects of an image which helps to tell a story.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
I love @jeinhard – I met her up in Sweden when we were both studying there, she has a tremendous eye for putting her grid together, I feel like I need to learn a bit about this (even though part of me doesn’t want to follow the convention). There are many great artists out there but I find it rare that people stay unique. Most of the influencer seem to follow what works well for others.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Take a weekend trip somewhere completely unknown and go by yourself. When you go by yourself you are pushed to experience your surrounding in a new way, it will show in your pictures.
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
First of all I wouldn’t consider myself as an influencer, maybe an inpirational person – yes. I just love to help others get that spark of understanding which says something like “Wow, yeah, I didn’t see that before. It helps me broaden my horizon.”
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
Communicate from the heart. Don’t even trick people to buy more, get that mindset out of your mind. How can you help your audience? Feel it, live it breath it, just don’t be salesy.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
I’m a Virgo and trust me, I see every single details with such a sharp eye. Even in my own images which I post I always see what’s missing. I guess the most important part is to try and attempt for the 100% perfection but stop when you are at 80% – otherwise you will never post anything. Trust in your audience, nobody is perfect. 🙂
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
Getting closer to living off from my Social activites.
