1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
I was born in the year 1994 in Singapore and had spent my childhood & growing up years here while attending public education. I started to appreciate the great love for food in the year 2009 when I was 15 years old & grew a great fond to explore food in the year 2011, at the age of 17. I am currently an Undergraduate, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences at the Singapore Management University (SMU), while chasing after my passion in the extraordinaire of the Food & Travel scene!
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
Food & Travel! I largely focused on the authenticity of each food cuisine around the world, but focusing more on local Singapore dishes that bears our roots!
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
Foodchiak is an inspirational name derived from the fusional blend between the English word, "Food" and the Hokkien dialect, "Chiak", which literally translates to "Eat" in English, or is more commonly known as "吃" in Chinese! The significance behind this name revolves around the typical Singapore context of eating good food!
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
I uses largely instagram filters for instagram pictures & Adobe editing software tools such as lightroom & photoshop for my website!
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
Food Bloggers are largely my inspiration which spans from Mark Wiens at migrationology.com, as well as Trevor James at TheFoodRanger, where they constantly feature the best of the best, authenticity in food dishes that the world has to offers!
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
To be passionate about what you really love, where for instance if you really love food & is a frequent social media users, you should explore on the possibilities to become an influencer or simply put, to start a food blog! You never know what are the possibilities awaiting for you in the days to come! Who knows? You might just be doing it as a career!
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
I love to document down the true authenticity of each food cuisine around the world, by showing to my dear followers about the vibrancy of Food & Travel experiences! Sharing what you really love, makes you happy, especially when someone actually tries out your recommendation & tells you how much they really enjoyed as well!
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
To be firm on your own stand which is the most important! Do not simply just do it for the sake of popularity or even money which would violate your own principles! I always told myself that being true in feedback is the most important especially in the food & travel scene! For instance, if a food didn’t really match up to the standard which i deemed as acceptable, i would not go ahead and post it up!
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
Always take the effort to do things by yourself such as the photos, videos that you intend to post it up! If there is a need to use someone picture, always remember to give them credit for it! For your own pictures, do consider touching up with your very own watermark which would help to maintain originality!
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
To explore beyond the possibilities of discovering new food or travel experience, such as the sheer effort & story behind! You never know what you may discover through such an experience, which would take you by surprise as something that you might even hold it close to your heart!
