Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Charlotte Beaulat @thefitnesstheory

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am a French fitness and food blogger. I started my blog in 2014, when I started to lose weight. As there were not so many blogs about diet and healthy lifestyles in French, I created one to share the knowledge I gathered along the road.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My instagram feed is mostly food-related. It shows only dishes I cooked – I don’t post restaurant pics.
I also post about the fitness aspect of my life : training gadgets, gym wear and exercises.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I spent a bit of time in 2014 thinking about what identity I could embrace as a fitness and food blogger. The Fitness Theory seemed to be a simple, easy to remember and durable option.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I edit photos only through Instagram and without adding filters.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I don’t have any instagramer model, as I post only things I create. I only follow fitness friends because I care about their journey.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

My audience is completely obsessed by fitness, dieting and how they look. It is not about a product or a brand, but I would tell them to try caring a bit less about appearances. Which would be a nonsense, on Instagram.
Apart from that, I recently partnered with french brand Etam and their sport clothes are amazing. So maybe that as well.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

At the beginning, I enjoyed getting free stuff all the time. Now, I realized that the most important thing was the trust my followers were putting in me. I love interacting with them and being seen as a role model. It brings me so much more than just free detox tea bags.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Stop sending thousands of products to thousands of “influencers”. Pick your ambassadors wisely, and get them to promote your brands even when they are not paid for.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Don’t get inspired by other people, because you would be tempted to copy them. Build your own identity, work on your personal branding and style, and be proud of it.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Two things : I only do paid partnerships, so I do enjoy the money I can get from them, obviously. I have been working as a part-time blogger for a bit now, and I know how cost effective my posts can be. I also enjoy long term relationships with brands : I know some marketing managers for 2 years now, I care about them and I truly believe they care about me as an individual, not just as a billboard.
