Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Catherine Groeber @catherine_groeber

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I just recently moved to Florida form Kentucky. I’ve been a photographer for almost 4 years now and I’ve shot a little bit of everything, from weddings and big events to advertising for different companies and magazines, but my passion is taking pictures that tell a story and capture the beauty of a place or in a person. I’ve recently been working to raise money with my photography, by selling prints and doing shoots, for nonprofits that help rescue people from Human Trafficking all over the world and I think it’s important for people to understand that slavery still exists and we can do something to help put an end to it, and if buying a print or two can help do just that, I think a lot of people would be willing to help.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I love shooting landscapes and ocean photography along with some travel photography. Capturing a beautiful view is what I love most.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I just use my name.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

If I Shoot on my phone I will usually use VSCO, but most of the time I use Nikon and I edit them on my computer with Lightroom or Photoshop before uploading them to Instagram.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Chris Burkard is my favorite photographer and James Barkman is also another favorite. They’ve inspired me to take chances and to get out there to find the best places for those shots that make people want more.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Be bold when editing your photos when trying to create your look for your page. What colors stand out to you, bring them out of your pictures, make them pop. If you want your pictures to have texture or grain, go crazy with your sharpening or noise reduction. Edit in a way that is appealing to your eye and that’s what’s going to set you apart from anyone else.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

If I can make just one person see that there are roots to photography, to every single picture that I post, that anyone posts, then I will have done exactly what I set out to do as an influencer. There is a story for every photographer that is told through their pictures, it shows who they are and what they want to put out into the world and being able to express yourself through a medium like photography is such an amazing and important thing.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I think keeping it relatable but also balancing that with aspiration is where you will attract your biggest crowds. For me, knowing that I can do something but also wanting to to something is what pushes me to actually go for it.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I think quality is super important when trying to attract people to your page and I think original content is even more so. Post your pictures that show what you’re about and what you enjoy.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love to partner with brands that bring joy to a lot of people and that really care about their consumers and what they want or need.
