Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Anthony Tandiyono @Anthony_Tandiyono

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am Anthony Tandiyono and I am living my dream job at the moment as a creative director of my self titled label. My brand consists of clothings designed for modern women who love being stylish and enjoy being comfortable in what they wear. Currently since our label only operates in Asia, my team and I have spent a significant amount of time to develop our own measurment chart that focuses on Asian women’s body proportion. This gives us a much more accurate dimension and allows us to create garments that fit beaitifully to the majority of women. I also believe in the insignificance of sizing so we do accept custom measure for our designs so that everyone with various shapes are able to wear our clothes.

I was born in Jakarta, Indonesia and lived here for 15 years then I moved to Melbourne ,Australia to study and continued to study fashion design in Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Upon finishing my study, I worked part time at a bridal label called Mariana Hardwick where I learnt how to do beautiful beadings and lace applique from one of the best beaders I know. Her experience and precission became a valuable lesson for me and my future career. Later on I moved to Forever New and began my work as a fabric cutter. In there I met the most amazing people and learnt to cut just about every kind of fabric i can imagine which built up my confidence to handle fabrics until now.
In 2014 , I decided to go back to Jakarta and immidiately started my label a month after my arrival. It was a one man show for several months where I had to do everything myself and worked late almost every night. It was all worth it nevertheless because currently I have eight people working with me to develop fresh collection every year and I am incredibly proud of my team. A team full of young, passionate people who are driven to bring my imagination into a reality.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My favourite topic is invention, dinasours and arts. I love when people show any kind of inventions, big or small because they inspire and encourage me to be more creative. Dinasours because I am always fascinated with giant creatures, from real ones to mythical animals as they trigger a sense of fantasy. Lastly arts, because without arts life is simple like a saltless dish. I mostly post my work on instagram, many of my illustrations, the process of creating my products and lastly the final products that we offer to our clients.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

It’s my name , as simple as it is 🙂
I kept thingking what should I name my brand. I did came out with a few names but I felt that at some point I will lnot like that name. Therefore I end up using my own name and this is good because bhy having my name on the chopping block, I am pushed to do my best and to keep the integrity of my work.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I only use the filters provoided by instagram because I want my followers to seemy brand as me. I am not a professional photographer nor an editor. I share pictures that mean something to me and fascinate me and I want my pictures to resemble my reality -as much as possible-

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I love the instagram page of Manolo Blahnik, it always has the most witty, imaginative product shot ever and it brings me to a different world every time I see it’s post. I very much enjoy posts from Tanaka Tatsuya , maestro in creating an alternate surrounding made by everyday products starring his miniatures. His precission is so beautiful and his ability to narrate through his works is simply inspiring.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Insta Live and just talk to people, it is such an amazing opportunity to connect with many people and to inspire each other. I am still gathering courage to just sit down and answer questions from people. It is hard but one day when my hair is super on point, I will definitely do it 🙂

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I wouldn’t call myself an influencer but for me being able to share the intimate details of my working process is undeniable a priviledge. It is a priviledge that one should not take for granted in these present days. It is amazing to be able to share your point of view and let people know what you stand for. It is very healthy to spark an argument or a discussion about my work because it is the only way to bring my business forward.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Be true to your brands. Engage people naturally and with genuine intention. Communicate with your followers in a friendly manner and make each of them feel special. Maintaining auntenticity comes from within, if another person is handling your social media, make sure the person has the same vision as you are and monitor his/her posts regularly.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

As a brand, I treat my social media as a gateway to invite my followers into my world. People want to know my product and how it is created so it is extremely important that I take photos of exclusively my works or my lifestyle. This ensures my posts to represent the core of my brand and people will appreciate it more than just a complilation of random pretty pictures.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Partnering with a brand or an individual opens me up to a completely new idea that I might have not thought about. It gives me an extra boost of creativity and new experience that will enrich my own work. I especially like to partner up with brands that do different things from what i do, may even be from a different industry because this kind of collaboration will freshen my idea and push me out of my comfort zone. This often lead to works that surprise me in a very pleasant way.
