Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Anita Thomas @anitaluvsbeauty

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

My name is Anita and I’m 24 years old. I was born and raised in South Jersey. Right now I am in school studying for my Bachelor’s in Health Science and will be graduating next year.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My two main topics of interest are fitness and beauty and that’s what I post on Instagram on two separate accounts. Fitness became a new interest of mine last year but I have been loving beauty and makeup since i was two years old. My very first time putting on lipstick was when I was two years old and I loved dressing up as a kid. I love playing in makeup because it’s an art form and it’s a great platform to be creative.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

Basically my name is Anita and I love beauty so put two and two together. I couldn’t think of anything fancy. At first, I wanted to name my Instagram beautyobsessed to correlate with my Youtube channel but that name was already taken on Instagram.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

The main apps I use to edit my photos are Instagram and Pic Stitch. First, I use Pic Stitch to make a collage because that app has a big variety of frames to use. Then I use the editing tools on Instagram to sharpen the photo as well as color balance. I do not use the filters because that can make the makeup looks i post not look true to color.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

It’s hard to choose a specific Instagrammer because I love all the beauty Instagrammers. My top two beauty Instagrammers would have to be ssssamanthaa and kkimthai because they are super creative. I think kkimthai inspires me the most because she built herself up from nothing and worked extra hard for her success.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

One think fellow Instagrammers have to try is doing makeup that is completely out of their comfort zone. I noticed with beauty, a lot of people like to stick to things that are safe to them. But I feel that you never know if this makeup look or this color looks good on you until you try it. And if you don’t like it you can wash it off, it’s just makeup.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite part about being an influencer is when I inspire people. I never thought that I could be able to inspire anyone until I was told that I did. Being just a normal girl and inspiring someone really brings a smile to my face.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

My top tip for brands running campaigns are to reach out to a wider audience. Nothing feels worse than not being able to work with brands because you don’t have specifically what they’re looking for. I think there’s something special in everyone and everyone deserves a chance.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

One quote I like to live by is “quality over quantity”. I would rather upload something like a Youtube video once or twice a week that shows that I put my heart and soul into it over uploading every day with sub-par quality. Also, original content is something that makes a person stand out. Do something that no one has done before and you will draw a bigger audience. People like seeing new and different things.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

What I like partnering with brands is being able to try different products and seeing the quality in the brand. I like trying products out and telling my audience whether you should check them out or not. Some people can not always afford to buy something that might end up not working for them so it’s nice to be able to tell people the facts about products to help them cut corners and see if it’s worth spending the money for.
