Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Alexander @ALXPLR

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I”m still currently still going to school for Mechanical Engineering, and have a part-time job. On the side I am a freelance photographer.
I was born and raised in Oakland, California.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My topics of interest are street photography and capturing spontaneous moments, but I also love to create the shot by mixing in portrait photography by having a model express emotion and feeling. I love every form of photography and will continue to shoot everything since sometimes limiting yourself to a specific aesthetic is boring.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My Instagram name consists of two parts. The ALX in my Instagram name is my actually a shorten version of my first name, and since the X conjoins the sound in my Instagram name, the XPLR stands for “Explorer”.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I use Lightroom on my laptop to edit my photos, then I take it to Photoshop if I need to take something out, and then sometimes if I need to I use Instagram for the last finishing touches, since sometimes your image may look different on your desktop compared to your mobile device.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I really enjoy Asian culture and the streets of Asian countries. Lately I’ve been really inspired by Photographers based in China and Japan such as @Spatialflow, the @Inspirationcultmag team, @Tuck_4, @Nk7, @Tsuyoshinges, @harimaolee, @lielaine,etc.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Travel the world and explore on your own.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite part is being able to influence and inspire others, as well as entertain people who follow my work. Im thankul for all the support and people who ive met so far.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Some tips for campaigns are make them enjoyable and creative for people. In being authentic, always do what makes you happy and make decisions on how you feel not anybody else. Stay true to yourself, and being original will come naturally.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I always feel like as a photographer you need to stop always looking at Instagram for inspiration and start to embrace everything around you. You need to start finding yourself and what you enjoy shooting as a photographer. Then quality, and originality will form naturally. I think that those qualities are always important but sometimes they take time to obtain, and sometimes its easier for others to come out with their own creations.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love the experience in collaborating, and being able to help market certain companies that interest you. As a bonus, partnering with brands also comes with merchandises, building your portfolio, and also making new connections.
