Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Alejandro @galexkun

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hi! I’m a ‘maño’ (what the hell is this?) and means that I from Zaragoza, a city from Spain. I’m a graphic designer and community manager for restaurants and many brands.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Food, food, food. And also photography, architecture, design and fashion. Specially if it’s fried (just the food).

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I was a lover of japanese ‘animes’ and manga. Do you remeber one called ‘Beyblade’? Was a creature in there named Galux. So: Galux + Alex = Galex. And the ‘-kun’? It’s just a japanese form to name friends you love. Now it’s my identity and everybody knows me as galexkun. Like it or not.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

VSCOcam it’s the unique one. But just for the filters and minimun editing. Then I use Instagram for Perspective, Highlights, Contrast… because now Instagram offers greats result. Sometimes I use a little bit of Photoshop Fix. (Shhh… It’s a trick!)

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

@criscrashcrus is my sensei. The most that I know it’s thanks to her. But I also love @oldblueshoe with his facades and muted palette like @diaechcar, the minimal style and the colors of @hugokatsumi and the masterful use of black and white of @migueview.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

The simplicity and ethereal scenes of @edemoyam. Less is more.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love trying new things. Seriously. And especially I love being like a ‘discoverer’, do people make their daily lives a little better and then they say ‘hey Alex! I’ve tried that thing you published the other day and I reeeally loved!’

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Followers and likes are not everything. I saw Instagramers advertise a product badly. Sometimes they are only chosen for being a face or a beautiful body, but no. It depends on what you want to promote have to choose well regardless of the numbers (although undoubtedly helps). I think the most important is the overall aesthetics of the whole gallery.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

You have to be your own creative director. First of all the image quality. For me it’s very important the symmetry and color palette. Make good use of perspective and the rule of thirds and count (or create) a story behind each picture. An advice? I have thousands of the same pictures. Even if you think you have a good one, keep shooting (the iPhone camera ‘burst mode’ helps).

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

The final result definitely. See what has worked and who have trusted me. Each job is a new challenge to overcome and grow.
