1)Tell us a little about this photo?
My journey to Cambodia
The journey began when I’ve decided to volunteer for a humanitarian programme.I didn’t know what to expect, I was simply just trying out something new.
Before departing from kuala lumpur, my honest thought was the journey will be quite simple and straightforward. Once I arrived, I received a warm welcome at the airport by the representatIve of the villagers that we were headed to help, which I didn’t expect.
We talked about the hardship of the people there and their way through daily basis.it was a 3 hour journey from the airport due to its rurality and unconstructd road and one lane highway.
The moment I arrived, another warm welcome was given by the villagers and their wonderful children. The provide the best food and hospitality despite the fact that they don’t have much. This made me realise that you can do more even if you have less and even got me thinking that the nicest people are usually in the most remote part of the world because I never got this kind of thing in my country.
I took a walk with the kids around the village, the give me a ride in their "sampan" which is a wooden boat,I visited their homes which consist of an open area with no room for privacy,I helped them smoked some beef and helped them with some English lesson.
These are pretty much how my first day was in Cambodia.most of them are Buddhist and the fewest are muslim who are not terrorist.they were quiet and passive in communicating but when it comes to showing their "stuff" it when from cricket sounds to fireworks.
