1) Have you always been a foodie? Which area do you like best? Do you treat food as one of the artistic areas to practice your photography skills?
My husband got me into the foodie life when we started dating in college. Cooking new recipes and trying new restaurants has become something that’s really fun for us to do together. I love to travel and eat out I different cities to see what their food scenes are all about, yet San Francisco, where I live, is still my favorite foodie city. The number of restaurants San Francisco has is enough for all 800,000+ residents to be seated at the same time; therefore, I find it silly to keep going back to the same spots when the city has so much more food to offer me! I recently traveled to Singapore and have to say that’s the closest I’ve seen a city come to rivaling San Francisco for the best foodie city. Singapore has amazing food too (but their drinks are outrageously expensive!)
2) What makes a good food photo? What’s the most important detail for taking a good Instagram photo?
It’s all about lighting and aperture. I often ask to be seated by a window to get the natural light for my food photographs. I love taking food photos with a low-medium aperture to be able to capture the depth of details on the dish while being able to slightly blur everything that’s not in focus.
3) Finally, share with our readers one of the must-visit eating places in your country/city, and why?
State Bird Provisions is a must in San Francisco. The reservation lists typically is at least 2 months out, but if you go for an early dinner you can walk in as well without too much of a wait. State Bird Provisions offers bodily unique American dishes served dim sum-style. Waiters come around with carts of these small dishes and you’re able to see and hear what the dishes are and choose whether you’d like to try it. It’s decor is understated and nothing special, but did to the creative dishes, amazing taste, and reasonable prices, State Bird Provisions quickly became (and has remained) one of the most elusive restaurants in San Francisco.
